Frequently Asked Questions

We’re The Boss and The Beeston Street Band, West Yorkshire tribute to Bruce Springsteen. No wigs, no backing tracks, just a live band putting a shift in and playing the songs like we mean it. If you want to book us or just want to know how we operate, have a read of the questions below.

Do you only play Bruce Springsteen songs?

Yes. It’s a Bruce Springsteen tribute band. If you're holding out for a bit of ABBA, you're at the wrong gig. Expect everything from the massive stadium anthems to the deep cuts and fan favourites. Oh and the occasional cover of a Bruce Cover... Shout.

Do you play deep cuts or just the Greatest Hits?

Both. We'll play "Born in the U.S.A." for the casuals, but we look after the die-hards. Expect us to pull out something from The River outtakes, The Promise, or an epic like "New York City Serenade." If you know, you know.

Do you play the same setlist at every gig?

No. Where's the fun in that? While the big stadium anthems usually make an appearance, we mix up the set list every time we play.

Are you ever going to play "Secret Garden" or "Outlaw Pete"?

We have never played either of them, and it is currently the cause of an ongoing civil war within the band. Exactly half of us think it would be a brilliant idea to finally put them in the set list, and the other half would rather walk barefoot over broken glass down the M1. We’ll let you know who wins the argument, but until then, it's probably best not to shout for them at the gigs.

Do you take song requests from the audience?

We love hearing what people want to hear. If it’s a Springsteen track or a Springsteen Cover, bring a sign, and if we know it, we might just play it. Just don't ask us for "Free Bird", "Summer of 69" or "Dancing Queen".

What is the best Bruce Springsteen song?

Ask the band and you’ll get a different answer from every single member, catch us at the bar after the gig to buy us a pint and tell us which one is your absolute favourite.

How long is a typical Beeston Street Band setlist?

As long as we can get away with. We aim for that authentic E Street marathon experience, so expect us to be up there grafting until the venue unplugs the amps or our knees give out. Our sets regularly push beyond 3 hours.

Do you always play Born to Run and Dancing in the Dark?

Obviously. Because we need a sure fire way of signalling to the crowd that we’re nearly done and it's almost time to go home.

Are you a Bruce Springsteen lookalike act?

Absolutely not. We’re from Yorkshire, not New Jersey. We’re here to recreate the thunderous live sound and soul of a great Springsteen show, not to mess about with wigs and bandanas.

Do you do acoustic sets?

We do. Sometimes we strip it right back for a solo or acoustic set to cover the quieter, story-driven stuff from albums like Nebraska or Ghost of Tom Joad. It gives the brass section a minute to sit down, and it proves we can actually play our instruments without relying on pure volume.

Can we book the band for a private event or festival?

Aye, absolutely. We regularly perform at pubs, clubs, festivals, corporate events, and private parties. If there’s a stage and a crowd wanting live rock 'n' roll, get in touch and we'll sort it out.

Do you travel outside of Yorkshire for gigs?

We do. While Yorkshire is our stomping ground, we’ll happily travel across the UK for the right event. Just bear in mind that dragging a massive band down the M1 takes time and petrol, so travel expenses will apply.

Do you provide your own PA system and lighting?

For smaller venues and private bashes, yes, we bring the lot. For the big festivals and larger rooms, we’ll gladly work with the venue’s production team. We’ve got a technical rider we can send over upon request.

How much does it cost to hire a Bruce Springsteen tribute band?

Every gig is different depending on the location, set length, and logistics. Drop us a line with what you’re after. We're a lot fairer than Ticketmaster, but we still need to pay for guitar strings, sax reeds and drumsticks.

How far in advance do we need to book the band?

The earlier the better. Summer dates and weekends fill up fast. Don't leave it to the last minute and complain when we're already booked out playing "Thunder Road" somewhere else.

What is The Boss and The Beeston Street Band?

We’re Yorkshire’s premier Bruce Springsteen tribute band. We deliver the passion, the sweat, and the marathon live performances you’d expect from the Boss, just with thicker accents and slightly cheaper beer.

Who is in the current band line-up?

We've got Darren Driver (Vocals / Guitar / Harmonica), Paul Jepson (Guitar) Oly “The Big O” (Saxophones, vocals), Professor Sam Levon (Piano, vocals), Phantom Lauren Moreau (Organ, glockenspiel, synth, vocals), Jack “Mighty Mighty” Simpson (Drums) and Paul “The Tallent” Gray (Bass, vocals). This is the final line-up of the band, mostly because Darren will murder anyone who tries to leave in cold blood.
